TRADITIONAL HEALING METHODS WE ARE FORGETTING.
Due to our current fast paced science and technology world, many of us have forgotten a lot of the very simple traditional and local ways our parents and theirs before had used in tackling different ailments, with quite a high percentage of effectiveness.
Indeed the world of science and medicine keeps growing, through it we are able to find fast relief from whatever ails us, and in some aspects the world of medicine hasn’t quite succeeded yet in tackling the many modern day degenerative illnesses, plus if anything one must consider the many side effects and sometime toxic overload modern day medicine leaves us with, which over time and with constant exposure we are left with maybe even worse illnesses to deal with.
Different continents in the world have traditional methods of healing that have long been with them, things from leaves to clay and sands, special methods of drawing out harmful elements from the body either through blood or fluids have long been existent but are gradually being abandoned, due to many reasons such as rapid movement away from traditional to orthodox medicine as well the fact that unlike before where a traditional healer may have the secrets of the trade learnt by many of his generations to come this is no longer so, hence some of this knowledge die along with those who have them.
I present here a few of some of these traditional healing methods we are forgetting, some I have tried and some I hope to try. These methods can serve to help with already existing illnesses, improve over all health, detox the body of some harmful things that may have been lurking there for years waiting to exhibit themselves as one dangerous disease, or serve as immediate first aid from dangers such as poison.
CLAY: The earth’s full of the answers we need and by that I mean the very sandy earth on which we stand. As a child I my mother would use the mud made by wasps and apply to my neck when I had swollen lymph nodes there. Clay is been used for centuries internally and externally to heal and detox. In later years, I learned next about clay when I received Moroccan Ghassoul as a gift, this I used as facial mask, one could instantly feel it working as the face would feel softer and smoother. Next is Bentonite clay, this I got to know about while trying to manage my eczema healing crisis. Bentonite clay sure has a lot to offer I can tell anyone with certainty that when it comes to wound healing bentonite will do its job really fast, this can also be mixed in water (adequate amount of water as this clay swells to maybe more tan twice its size) and drank.
Clay’s abilities become activated when they come in contact with water, the clay is able to bind with anything toxic or harmful and eliminate it from the body.
Animals too have been said to eat certain clay when they feel sick, so have pregnant women who eat the clay from termite mounds to stave of the effects of pregnancy discomforts such as nausea as reported in some parts of Africa.
Who knows there could be more to this clay thing, after all our faiths tell us how God made us from clay/dust and we will return to that form.
HIJAMA: This is an Arabic word for an ancient healing method which translates to wet cupping or blood letting. The first time I mentioned the discovery of this, it was to my mother who said that northerners in Nigeria, the Hausa do this with horns, she had seen it, it is used to draw out what is called “black blood” or “bad blood”.
Hijama is said to be the one of the fastest and best therapy for detox known to man. We carry a lot excesses in our bodies, pathogens, toxins, etc. It has even been said to be a cure for some not so physical illnesses, such as stress, insomnia, anxiety and the likes.
Persons who practice Hijama must be highly skilled in this, as there is a correct way of administering this and even the best time of the day for doing this.
I hope to personally try this out some day when I do find skilled practitioners and the right environment. I am a serious advocate of detox for the body, it is an act we highly need to save us from many illnesses, and what better way than through an ancient practice that is still relevant today.
My final thoughts on this, it seems that in general letting out some blood from the body for the right reasons could have some benefits, even for persons who simply donate blood, it sort of gives their bodies an opportunity to rebuild.
CHINESE ACUPUNCTURE & CUPPING: Many people from different parts of the world are turning to Chinese medicine. The Chinese with their green teas and longevity do seem to have some secrets.
Acupuncture involves using tiny needles on the body on pressure points. It is aimed at releasing flow of energy by the body correctly and has helped people relieve serious pains, such as migraines. A feeling of better well being has been reported by those who went through it.
Cupping on the other hand is also a technique which involves placing glass, bamboo or plastic jars on the skin and creating a vacuum by suctioning out the air. The purpose of cupping is to enhance circulation, help relieve pain, remove “heat” and pull out the toxins that linger in your body’s tissues. Unlike Hijama it is not wet cupping and doesn’t involve blood letting. It often works wonders for patients with the flu, colds, coughs, back and muscle pain, poor circulation, anxiety, red itchy skin conditions (though cups are not applied to inflamed areas), allergies, fevers, aches and myriad other pains.
I hope to try these as well as I cannot share with experience what they have to offer yet. You do not have to go to China or any other exotic country to get it done, here in Nigeria there are centers where acupuncture is now performed as I hear.
COLON HYDROTHERAPY: This is something we all ought to try often, it is simple, gentle, instant detox. It is said that in years past doctors used to have equipment for colon hydrotherapy as it was an instant answer to many health challenges, but not anymore, I bet some doctors do not even know about this.
Colon hydrotherapy is the gentle rinsing of the colon with warm water, to remove encrusted fecal matter, gas and mucus. This allows vital nutrients to be absorbed more easily and leaves you feeling rejuvenated and healthier.
It can simply be done in your home, and there are many videos describing how to do this, one only needs to buy an enema kit.
To get this done, you get room temperature water into your enema bag, hang it at the right spot and insert the tube which should have a head that can go into your anus (GROSS!! I know but no one has to know) you will know when you have taken in enough water you can possibly hold and the instant urge to offload your bowels also tells you what next. Please do not do this far away from your toilet bowl.
Here’s what colon hydrotherapy will do for you; Solve your constipation problems instantly, leave you feeling clean and lighter, help with weight loss, help your body absorb nutrients better, nutrient from food and drink, release fecal matter you have been carrying around inside that stomach for years that just hasn’t come out. Finally I keep saying it, your stomach has a lot to do with your overall health, so a clean colon means what? A healthy body.
African women have always known what to do in the past when their little babies were not eliminating, lie them on their backs and pour some water through those babies bum bum hole, and all the trapped waste comes gushing out. So who says this doesn’t work.
Finally, there are lots of very simple problem solving techniques around that are going extinct, when we constipate we begin thinking of some thing to mix and gulp down. In essence we need to continue with some of this ancient practices as they are much safer with long lasting effects.
